Upload Your Resume (Why?)
Times have changed – no one reads resumes – resumes are electronically parsed, entered into our system, and matched to open positions. When such a match occurs one of our highly-trained and easily excitable recruiters calls you to inform you about the opportunity. Your best chance for being in the know, particularly about unadvertised positions, is to be electronically available to the system. Your personal information is never shared without your expressed permission, but uploading your resumes means that you will not miss out on that job you so want.
Resume Advice:
- Tables are a “no-no” as they don’t parse well. Learn to use standard MS Word formatting for best results and deliver your resume in ms word.doc format
- Headers – Putting your contact information in the header means that your resume may be parsed without the necessary contact information. Use a standard signature block that includes your name, address, phone number, and email address.
- FAX technology is old school. Alexander Bain was granted a patent for fax technology in 1843. Faxing your resume only indicates that you resist change. Come on into to the 20th Century. Yes, we are in the 21st – take it one century at a time.
- PDF – PDF format preserves technology and makes it harder, although not impossible for someone to change your precious work history. However, be sure to keep you Adobe writer up to date – older versions don’t parse well.
